Hey allister1944, how’d your fishing trip turn out? I was also wondering what part of the lake did they set you up on? Was it on the inner Callander Bay our out in the main lake, off the south shore?

I don't know if any else got out with Ice Bungalows on the weekend, but we did not. Our trip got cancelled. On Wednesday they told us that they had half of the Huts out on the ice, but were having issues getting the rest out.

We stayed with SSIC (which is now Greening Bay). The SSIC bungalows are not where they used to be. They are moved to the Greening Bay location.

Just a note to anyone going up this weekend; go directly to Greening Bay. We made the mistake of going to SSIC in the morning (although it was really nice to see Garnet and Cara-Lee again) because nobody told us they actually moved the operation (we knew ahead of time it changed ownership, but assumed it was at the same place).

We had 4 guys and stayed in a 6-man. When we arrived Friday morning there were 2 holes drilled and -25 outside. So we took turns fishing. The condos hadn't been banked yet and the inside holes were freezing up pretty fast. There was no way we'd be able to fish outside even if we wanted to. Anyways, the morning bite was pretty steady. Later, around noon we were able to get 2 more holes drilled. Mid-day was really slow, barely any marks coming through and our forward facing sonar was blank for a few hours. The bite was fast and furious between 3:30 and 5:30pm, then slowed down after dark with the odd fish here and there. Early morning was dead until 8:00am and fish started coming through. Fast bites for about an hour.

Ended up with about 70 fish over the weekend. Good mix of perch and walleye, with a few herring and a smallie. Got bit off by a decent pike, which we hooked two more times but never did land it. Size was typical, most walleye between 12 and 15 inches, with 9 keepers (2 released), also 2 or 3 over slot. Biggest Walter was 20". Perch were nice, all between 10 and 13". The 19.5" Smallie was fun.

Going back this weekend, same place, this time bringing 4 young kids including a 4 year old first timer. Looking forward to it.

Ice Bungalows posted a video on FB showing them dragging the last super blue out onto the ice. So we are good to go for this weekend. Will post pic when I get back on Monday.
