Coworker said he had 4-5 inches of good ice, didn't say which end and that he wouldn't trust a sled out there... that was last weekend.

There were 5 inches of good ice when the missus and I went out yesterday afternoon. There were a few permanent huts, 4-wheelers, and snowmobiles out there as well. Looks like hardwater season may finally be upon us. Stay safe.

That's great news. Was that the south or north end of the lake? Did you guys catch anything?

South end, brother! The missus landed a 12 inch perch and we iced five 8-inchers for the pan. Tight lines.

Thanks...it is what I would have expected for Chemong. 12" perch is a good one for that lake. I've only caught a handful that size over many years fishing Chemong.

It was the biggest one I have personally seen come out of that lake. Now if we could only find some crappies nearby...

I would say, if you are on perch and there are no bluegills around, move and try to find them. It's a general rule I use. I rarely find crappie if it's an area of perch. But with bluegills only, your chances are a bit better, esp. if you stay to dusk and beyond. Good luck.

Skidoos have been out for a few days, I haven't measured it. I know before this cold snap it was only about 3", so I don't know what a week of double digit cold did.

Thank you for the wisdom, Flukes! Very much appreciated, will put this knowledge to use!

Not much snow, but definitely don’t need cleats.

Anyone fish south end of Chemong recently? Curious how well the ice held up after the heat wave. I will be in the area in a couple of days so want to know if it's worth bringing some fishing stuff to give it a try.
