Fished sat eve through mon afternoon. Fishing was about the same its been 150 throw backs to get a limit of keepers. Fished just to the left of taj city. Ice was beautiful. Shore started to shove up on Sunday about 4 foot high, but still manageable. Hate to have such a short season love simcoe in march. Had another great time staying at Casey’s great people and a nice place to say.

I was going to check my trailer out up in Waubaushene and decided to throw the perch stuff in the car and detour around the East side of Simcoe and visit Taj and maybe get out finally for my first ice this year. Got to Taj at about 6am had a look at his wounds .....holy crap he really messed his head and arm up......I think that situation could have been worse. Willy got me in the hut by 630am and Geeesh from the first drop the perch never stopped..... I had to get off the ice by 1pm cause still had to go to Waubaushene. My arms are sore from hauling up fish and unhooking and rebating.....I never got a rest the whole time. The biggest waves came at 830 to 930 am and again at 11 till noon. They were hitting it on the way down and or as soon as the minnow hit bottom.

For Jay....I was going to try the new bugs but minnows were crazy .....I did try the yellow bug for a half hour but it killed the bite. I might not have been working it right.....but I went back to minnows for my last hour there.

I swear I must have brought up over 200 perch today. Thats the good news.....The not so good was about 180 were dinks.... a lot were 8 to 10 inches but did manage to get some good sized Jumbos too.....enough for a couple of feeds.

Going out saw some orange lightning way off over GB....at 1pm as I was leaving rain started and unlike in the morning a lot of water on the ice. Then almost half way home late afternoon more lightning and then at dusk started to get really foggy South of Erin.

I hope to get back next week.

Arnie

Great first outing. Im glad you got out and had some hot action. How was the ice out there? I tip the bugs with a minnow. I have found using the camera is beneficial. I see how they react to different colours, size of presentation and cadence. I play keep away from the dinks until the larger perch get annoyed enough and smash it. We've all had those days where the dinks are so thick and aggressive that the jumbos dont get a chance to hit it. Well done Arnie

Thx Jay....will try that if I get out again....or in the soft water.

The ice under the hut was about 7 inches but a lot of fractures.

Very Nice LF. Thinking the season is fast winding down. I have managed 10 days on the hardwater this season between work, weather etc.. and survived a hard knock to the noggin. Count myself lucky.

fun day..........I know about the sore arms and the hot bite you can have there....

well done

I often go to much larger presentations to stop the dinks from biting and give the jumbos a chance to hit.....usually works but not always

bananas eh , not going there

I have a buddy I go salmon/Trout fishing with, out of Bronte. He keeps his boat in the Outer Harbour. Werner he as you, are on the bad luck banana kick,,,,,Funny as hell. I always take bananas fishing and swear by them being my lucky charm. Werner he pretty much body searches me before I board.....if he finds one I eat it and step aboard.....we all rib him about it......I send him countless pictures of bananas and fish.

When we go to Owen Sound we use Captain Tony Degasperis....awesome guy......when he knows my buddy is coming he decorates the boat with bananas. BTW we usually limit out. We have a lot of laughs at his expense.

Knuguy yes he did go there

Arnie

Nice catches. The fish must have been aware of the upcoming storm and ready to bite. Unfortunately that also looks like the end of this season after today's carnage on the lake.
Anyhow, good luck and tight lines on the soft water.
