Quite the odd season were having in southern Ontario this year - My father is itching to get out for a rabbit hunt but I am hesitant due to the lack of snow.

Other than being tougher to spot, any other disadvantages to hunting rabbit without snow on the ground?

We have a few spots around London that produce and they definitely will not have snow.

Some other spots around Arthur to Meaford which may have some old snow in bush but not sure if worth the drive.

Any comment appreciated.

Where are the snowshoes! lol

The rabbit population is down in our area due to the mass amount of coyotes I really would love to hunt rabbits again but I gotta kill some coyotes first hope you find some bunny’s for yourself good luck

I have 3 bushes I can hunt for deer and turkey, the only rabbits or tracks I see are around the houses or in town. Way to many coyotes around for sure. I fact I see more coyotes than rabbits any more.

I watched an incredible Documentary on rabbits.

Rabbits have incredible ability to reduce their numbers when pray species are prevalent. This documentary stated that rabbits can breed four times a year with litters up to 15 babies in areas where predators are fewer a number. In areas were predators were more prevalent and put much more pressure on the rabbits. They had litters were as little four babies and fewer litters per year. This continued for generations of rabbits. The documentary stated in this manner predators would reduce due to lack of food.

Just an interesting documentary.

We do have a massive coyote problem in Ontario.
