Seen the weather forecast for today and decided to go out on the lake. Started off just trying to figure out how to get a bite. After a few sunny hours we were hooking up with some really nice fish. What a great day spent on the water. Seems like the Brown Trout are really doing well out there. Time spent on the water learning something different every outing is what I love about the sport.

What a hoot on the water today, yes sir

And bankers hours to boot....... . we started fishing at around 9 or so and decided to head to the lake....after experimenting with several presentations, we settled on 2 that began working for us....

got some gorgeous brown trout and some decent laker action

best of all was to spend time on open water hooking into decent fish......just fun

Open water in the boat in February, and catching some beautiful fish. Can't beat that.

We jigged and casted mostly. Caught one trolling in about 20-25 feet on a kwikfish. Werner might want to share more on that topic

thanks for the nice comments.

do not know what to add except that I think we are both diehards that do not give up, so when stuff is not working for us we try a mess of different presentations....Steve is the spoon cas and jig king.......even though he loves kwickfish I just figured they would chase something flashy with a ton of action, so switched up and that brown smashed it within 15 seconds

got to love it

the current there makes the fight something else as well

would have gone today as well, but the ole body was pretty sore from yesterday and we got strong sw winds here which will dirty that water up again.....grrrr just seems so frequent this year

our next outing is going to be for walleye.somewhere

I went down to the Bowmanville harbour today. Lots of people fishing. I didn’t stay too long. Casting spoons, rapalas etc didn’t get anything. One guy got a rainbow with a bag of roe.
Just nice to be out throwing a lure onto unfrozen water.

Epic outing!

Beautiful browns and lakers.

Looks like a blast.. I know the ice fishermen have had a bit of a rough winter.

But boating in Feb with these mild temps. Sure is nice..

Well done and thanks for the mid winter open water report.

Loved it..
