Deep freeze/cold this week, Ice fishing again?

I am wondering if we shall be able to soon start SECOND round of ice fishing this winter? :-)

I had the same thought. Probably ill advised, but I’ll tell you the shores froze back over with half inch black ice again and now snow on top…. They look inviting but likely a death trap. I have one lake just south of my area that’s completely open water, has good strong current so should stay open until Sunday when I will try from canoe or boat. This is a whitefish and crappie lake.

Stop teasing us X. Wish it was a better season hopefully next year.

The thought did cross my mind for lakes that are still open and further north but I’ve put my gear away already. Mind is on watercraft…

So let me ask that perennial question: "How's the ice on Lake Joke"?

Screw Canada.....I am headed for Ireland on Monday. I have a medium telescopic rod packed with three different reels packed garnering 4 lbs, 10 lbs and 20 lbs line. Some spoons, plastics and spinner baits. Also some Simcoe bugs.

I know and can be guaranteed that I will not be on risky ice but that all the water is open water and my butt will be high and dry fishing off a bank or pier.

Except for a possible charter out in the Irish Sea looking for Salmon and god knows what else.

I will try and watch the site to seee what is happening here and also hope to post some Irish fish porn here.

I had a trip scheduled to Ireland in May of 2020 to fish for monster pike but it got obviously cancelled because of that fkn Covid.

The inland Irish fishing is AMAZING. You can fish for trout, monster pike and perch and many other species.

Hoping to get out there next year in Spring.

I did some research and gathered some info about pike fishing there and also spoke to some people who went there (but this was before Covid) so PM me if you have any questions.

JB yes monster pike 20 to 25 lbs and 3lbs Perch.......my mobility is limited on this trip as I plan on scooting around on a bike until I am comfortable with the rules of the road. I plan to be coming to Ireland more in the future as my daughter lives there. In future trips I will probably rent a car. Fishing will be different for sure. No live bait allowed and no barbed hooks. Will check on this but inland fishing no license needed unless you are fishing salmon or trout. In videos I see most use multiple rods so as no relatives fish and regs are hard to find....I will first visit a professional type Tackle store and ask many questions.....like do I need a non resident license?
