Winter never ended in NE Ontario, was up there 2 weekends ago and will be heading back up for the long weekend.

I'm guessing launches and inlets will or have froze over on Simcoe last night?

Asking for my boat, that is pre-packed and almost ready for perch fishing...

Good question, not sure.

My guess would be that some might still be open or covered with thin layer of ice but I am not going out again until next week when they forecast +8-10C.

Good luck if you go but be careful out there and be prepared for the line and guides freeze up.

Can confirm the east side of cooks launches froze over again including the jersey river and the canals.

Thought we were in the clear today for the afternoon weather window but then I heard the famous words, "I forgot to mention tomorrow I have to..." and plans changed!

Gonna have a go at the yellow bellies tomorrow.

We hit the launch around 10am on Sunday and were surprised to see how much skim ice had formed in the launch and Pefferlaw river, but thankful a couple of boats had already launched and broke a path. Didn't really consider how much ice would form and push to the south shores. My first time boating through ice so it was definitely bit of an adventure.

Beautiful day weather wise but the few boats on the water were all moving around trying to find the schools. Ended up finding a meal in 26-28fow so the day was well worth it. No dinks, just keepers, sitting pretty tight to bottom.

Seems my old boat motor (or battery) doesn't like the cold. Had starting issues, booster pack ran dead... ended up coming in on wind and trolling motor! Slow trip but made it in and home in time for dinner.

Nice basket of perch. Something to keep an eye on if there is still considerable ice around on the lake is the of the wind direction and where the ice may get blown into...I remember a few years ago (can't remember the lake) some guys got blocked out of their launch because the wind had blown all the broken ice into the launch so they couldn't get back to the ramp.
