Splake, Ice fishing

World Record Trout Group: Members Posts: 1469 Member No.: 15869 Joined: April 04, 2018	My son and I tried an old favorite for splake today. We fished a steep north facing shoreline that still had a solid 8 inches of ice. We drilled a mess of holes and fished an hour and a half with no luck so we changed locations. We could only stay along shore for quality ice because as soon as we got offshore the spud went through with two shots so likely four inches of soft ice. We tried our new location for a couple hours with no bites. It was a sunny windless day so it was pleasant to be out but no fish today. It felt good to be outdoors today!
