Had a fantastic day today fishing ice out whitefish. Managed 9 whitefish by lunchtime and one lake trout in slot released. I got eight and after some coaching on the graph I managed to help my friend Paul get his first open water whitefish…. He says it’s too much work lol. Whitefish were very aggressive to chase with the lightest of bites, most fish were suspended, I will include graph shots to show how they were coming in schooled up. Suspended 25-35ft over 50fow. Some massive schools up to 20+ fish, didn’t manage take a snap shot of those as the bite was hot! Lots of missed bites, with only a split second of contact, a few come unbuttoned but many were just inhaling the vibratos. Whitefish averaged 3-5lbs.
Once we found the whitefish schools we fished them hard for 2 hours then decided we gave enough of them sore lips and weren’t going to keep anymore so we switched to laker mode, but couldn’t find any so called it by 1:30.
Fantastic weather out there. Had the lake to ourselves. Can’t wait to fish them during the eclipse!!!

now that a great day. way better than mine. was heading out to walleye fish, hooked boat up, took cover off went to lift motor nothing. Battery stone dead wouldn't even take a charge. So no fishing tomorrow either as have to take batter in to see what up and probably get new battery. It worked fine 3 weeks ago, hooked power to the onboard charger last night and nothing this morning,

That’s unfortunate! I bet you can find one and still salvage the day tomorrow! Best of luck. And post some walleye if you get some!

It's been a long time since I have caught that many whities...but never was able to keep that many on Simcoe so they were released...and then decided I was going to stop fishing after getting my limit. But now, that I am in another fishing zone with higher limits, well....I can't wait for a great day like the one you just had.

It was a perfect weekend, I did some patch work on my Canoe and then floated up and down a lazy river Sunday afternoon chasing brookies.
We got skunked but it was really nice to be floating on the water again.
My canoe needs some TLC but I’m also looking forward to a lazy paddle with a line in the water. Mosquitoes were out on my back deck yesterday in near Haliburton, I couldn’t believe my eyes.
