My Uncle had a neat quick way to preparing smelts. On the outside of the smelt, he ran his thumb down the belly from head to tail, cleaned out whatever came out, and rinsed & dried them then deep fried them to crispy golden brown Damn good... he could do a 5 gal pail of smelt in no time... lol

It's been a long while for me but back in the day we used to use scissors for a quick cleaning. Then into a deep fryer c/w beer batter! could not get enough of them!

Wow, nice. Am I ever glad the GPS coordinates are on the picture details. I’ll be there tonight. J/K. Seriously some guys have sent me pics before where this was indeed the case lol. I haven’t got a haul like that for 15 years. Good to see there’s still good days somewhere now…

I sure hope the GPS coordinates aren’t leading you anywhere as I took that pic in my kitchen sink.
If you show up there in the dark at least turn on the coffee pot.
