Went out with the boy this afternoon for a few hours, slow start to the day wasn’t marking much, had a couple laker chases, moved into a deep basin flat where I saw the loon all afternoon eating herring, so we dropped our lines down and immediately had two chases with fish mid-column. 55fow. Saw a decent mark in bottom so dropped my line to bottom and immediately slammed a long skinny whitefish… 21” but skinny skinny. Reset my line, jigging about 40ft down I see a big mark come in at 30ft, I reel up barely get past it and THUD! Like hitting the bottom half way up. 10 min fight ensues to another fantastic sound track, my son is losing his mind, he foils the first net attempt and quickly grab the net and in second turn of the fish I got it. I had a guy and his kid on a jet ski watching in awe and I asked him to quickly snap some pics, but the fish was bleeding and couldn’t revive after the long fight and w arm water so I kept it for dinner. 68cm but VERY thick fish. Meat was beautiful… no old boots here. My son said he wants to fish everyday now, I laughed and said we can try.

Yeah, fishing every day sounds good - nice laker… around 7 lb?
She was very thick and bulky right to the last 4” of tail, my filets were 1.75” thick, stomach was empty, fought like 15lbs. But I’d say 8lb because it sounds better. Lol. It’s bigger than the one I got in the winter which was 7lbs. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it haha. My son ate 3/4 of the one filet I cooked. I’m creating a fish addict.
