This little guy has been waiting since Christmas to try it out. Unbelievable how fast kids pick up on things.

The last photo to share a great welcome home. Fresh vine ripened tomatoes for that beloved BLT

Hey Robert

Good to see you post and glad you got out camping. Nice pics.

Your experience with other campers unfortunately does not surprise me.

To me it is a decline in Society in general as people are more and more "self focussed", with no concern or thought for others.

Ralph

The recollette falls, such a beautiful spot! I have many memories of fishing there even as a young lad. Looks like you had a great trip. As I write this I’m sitting on my porch listening to my neighbour rev his engine, it’s been about an hour now not too sure what he’s trying to accomplish. The drive seems to keep getting longer to “get away from it all”, but it’s worth it.

Hey Robert,

Great pics and love the tomatoes. Nice!

I am sorry to hear about the lack of consideration at the provincial parks.
I haven't been camping in years... Probably 15 years ago now, but I know what you are talking about. See it in the neighborhood --- and the engines revving and loud music, garbage, don't get me started. As Ralph said, just a different society now... Went to a Provincial Park last year... What can I say... What a mess! Everything you said and then some..

Cheers!

Have you considered canoe/kayak camping, or by motorboat out on G Bay or on a big lake in Algon or Temagami? Much quieter, no neighbors.

Great pics and post.
Quiet places are harder to find. Haliburton Highlands water trails have some out of the way spots but almost all are canoe/ boat access.

What a nice post. I'm sure your little guy didn't notice the lack of civility while camping, as he was likely focused on his dad and the water.

FYI - The French River Provincial Park (where you were) has a 'back-country camping' option. There, you can access by boat or canoe, a camp-site where only a fire pit and thunder-box are provided. It is well away from other campers and provides total privacy and peace.
We have done this for 10 yrs now (I'm going this Thursday) and find it very peaceful. I'm sure your little guy would love camping with his dad.
Unfortunately, SDC and MB are correct, society in general has lost any idea of respect and consideration for others, on water or on land.
I believe the French River Prov. Park is one of many park options where we can get away from it.
Good Luck in your quest.

this been going on for 30 years and getting worse. Remember when my boys were really small had to get police involved as next camp site was firing a pellet gun out into lake and up in the air. Of course what goes up must come down in our camp site, booze involved. I asked them to stop but they just laughed. another time, site beside us and site behind us got into it over noise. Again my boys were tiny, the noise wasn't an issue for me as it was during the afternoon and my boys were able to sleep. What made it bad was the beside site yelling and swearing at the party site. they finally got me involved, guy doing the swearing came over to get me on his site as I had 2 little ones sleeping. I went over with him to the party site. Talked to the party site, which were drink hard. I told them not bothering me as it was mid afternoon, but come night fall would have problem, which would never happen the way they were downing their drinks. By 6pm never heard another work. So it been happening for a long time, just spreading.

Great pics, by the way

I have the same complaints you do about camping near people.

That's why I Crown Land camp. As Knuguy eludes to, I stay north of North Bay. I'm almost 60 but can still sleep in a tent, quad to back country lakes and fish. It's not for everyone.

Peace, solitude, shore lunches and off road discoveries.

I agree it's not for everybody, but with some of the modern convivences e.g. air mattresses it can be made fairly comfortable, esp if you are using a motor boat for access. There are quite a few big lakes in Algon that allow motors. Some folks on here fish and camp on Oeongo for e.g.

Some of the best camping we ever did was outside of Canada. It's so quiet you can get busted for excessive noise just popping the top of a cold one.
