I was out last weekend. The steelies were definitely in! Some guys were absolutely smacking them - I did OK myself. Kept the freshest chrome for the smoker which happened to be a big ol buck. I was certain this was a steelhead but some guy (one of those guys crushing fish all morning) said it was a coho..... What do you think??

100% a Steelhead. Zero doubt.

The tail is all spotted. Cohos have very very few spots on their tail and those only occur on the leading upper and lower tail rays. Also cohos have black mouths with white gums.

Disco is right , this subject keeps coming up but the answer is simple..if the mouth is pure white its a steelhead/rainbow gray or black its one of the salmon family...

200% steelhead!? That's the most steel I've ever caught in one fish!

300% delicious seemed like an understatement. I've perfected my smoked trout recipe and this fish had some of the most orange flesh I've ever seen. Perfect appetizer for Thanksgiving and the last of it will end up on some pasta tonight.
