42nd year at the same spot catching pike. Started at 8am and fished until 4pm. Weather was cold and wet off and on, with mostly a SW wind all day. First cast, big minnow, small pike. Third cast, big minnow small pike. This is how the day went. Two dozen minnows and almost that many small pike. Might have even caught 1 or 2 twice, who knows.

Finally around 3pm a pike worth measuring. Almost 27 inches and a mad pike at that. Churned up the water nicely. A great day, and that just may be it for this year. Thank you for all the replies this season. Nice to share thoughts and fishing stories with you guys. Good luck on the ice this winter. Stay safe.

Nice way to end the season with a nice pike. I have a shore fishing spot for pike I use to visit every year from October to when ice prevented me from getting bait into the water (I have even arrived on days when I was hoping there was open water but found an inch or two of ice and had to make other plans). So I know very well the kind of fishing that you just had....it was alot of fun (big or small pike, sometimes, large crappie and some monster bass as well). It's just too far from where I live now...but then again, now I have whitefish to fill that period (at least up until last week) and either a 2 or 10 min. drive away. But would love to take my little one out to the pike spot when he's a bit older...minnow under a float fishing (lots of fun and esp. for a kid...now, where can you get a Paw Patrol float )

Thanks Flukes. It was a good day to finish the season except for the rain on and off. I hate ice, many times going to my spot only to find ice there. Posted this picture December 5 2022. Bucket of minnows all ready to fish and had to break the ice just to cast a bit. Maybe online you can find a Paw Patrol bobber. You can find almost anything on line.

Cheers,
Thanks Fozzy. Looking forward to next season already as well. Still wishing for one more adventure this year. But it looks like the cold weather is on the doorstep. After all this is Canada, winter is inevitable. Stay warm, stay safe.
