Has anyone ever fished saguenay fjord, for cod, rockfish, and halibut through the ice? Sounds like a wild trip, looking for insight we are going to hire a guide as well.

Not personally but my old inlaws live up there. One thing for sure, you will need a big reel, there's depths of up to 600 ft. There's number of outfitters there that can provide all the necessary equipment. I know you don't need a fishing licence there although limits may apply. Around 50+ species to catch.

Very cool. I think there is alot of smelt fishing as well (different species than the rainbow smelt I think) and every now and again, there is news about someone pulling up a Greenland Shark around there and they can be huge. Make sure you report back on how you do out there.

I've been to Tadoussac in the summer at the mouth of the fjord but I've never been there ice fishing. I've got several friends who have and we tried to make a trip work last winter but it never happened. Hopefully this winter we get to go as it's a trip I'd love to make.

Never fished there but have fished a bunch in the east coast, what a blast. Such a beautiful place, I’ve stayed in rivièr du loup several times and it’s really awesome country out there, can only imagine what the north side of the river looks like. I hope you make it out there I’m sure you’ll have a great time.
