I wasn’t sure which area to share my story so I picked Lake Simcoe.
I haven’t posted much in the last year or so but hope to rectify that in the future. Truth be told, I love this place and miss it.
A fellow longtime member made a post after a long absence. His presence made me want to be active again , so here goes….
If you know my past on here you , you know I like to share my misfortunes or injuries.
Without dwelling in the past, here is the latest…
Again, I haven’t posted much in a year so this is almost a year to the day.
Long story short, I was in the Maynooth area working on a cottage. It had snowed the evening before and we were working on the roof. We craned the trusses in one by one until I f@cked up.
I slide to fasten a truss down with my hand on the trigger of a nail gun and slipped.
Shot myself in the shin.
Truns out it was straight threw. Broke the bone and kept me off my feet for a couple of months.
Really killed my ice fishing season.
Here’s a couple of pics.

I’m hoping for a better ice season.
It’s tough in a cast

Nice!! Hopefully this year is better. I also cut into my ice time last year with an injury. Flipped the sled on a solo trip 25km from the truck close to the Manitous. Woke up over 50 feet from the machine with a cracked helmet and moderate concussion. Got off the ice after putting the sled back together and was out of commission for about a month.

Have some pics as well the time i cut my thumb off with the crossbow string about 10 years ago but they are perhaps a bit too graphic. Was local anesthesia when they put it back on so i watched and took video and pics while they put it back together. Asked the doc and he was fine with it so i recorded the whole works for posterity.

Here's to you getting better quick and having some good ice fishing sooner than later. The good thing is, that it wasn't worse. That nail could have gone anywhere. Get well soon sir.

Man that’s brutal! Glad you’re alright though, I suppose it could have been much worse. Is everything good now?
Also it’s great to see you back posting….. I guess being your first big post in a while I’d say you really nailed it!

WOW! Holy Liftin' that would have smarted.

I'm willing to bet you uttered some swear words in 14 different languages!

Glad to hear you are up and around - hopefully we get some good ice this year to make up for the last couple.
