Season Greetings,
Well, I just watched Kokemachine's video on Nip ice conditions. I'm glad it's starting to firm up around Nip but, I just drove by Callander Bay and it's white caps except the first 100 feet or so. It's gonna be a rough drive over all the broken ice when we are able to get out on the lake.

The cold is back and some great really cold days/nights to come!!!!! Reduced snow pack so some good ice should be added. I heard besides skating already some snowmobile tracks had been seen on the ice in certain places too.

Just took a look at the bay and it looks very nice. I don’t know how thick it is at different points but visually it looks nice and frozen. Hopefully it thickens enough to withstand the post Christmas warm spell….

I expect with 3 or 4 nights in row forecast to be -20 to -27 and daytimes in the high negative teens plus no snow on the ice we could make 8 to 10 inches of good black ice before the warmup. Should be enough to ensure walk-on at Callander and depending on how things play out with the extended forecast maybe even sleds - but might not be enough snow for the sliders though.
Gonna sacrifice some virgin goats to Odin and Thor this weekend to make sure we are good.

Agreed that Callander will be good to go on the opener - but my hearts desire is enough ice to ride out to the Manitous. Not sure that will happen so thinking i will indulge my pagan nature.
