Well got out first time on the ice with my son mild weather and thin ice we were fishing on 3 inch of good ice and 2 inch of bad ice the lake we were fishing max depth is 13 feet we were in 6 feet of water. Managed two brookies that we let go and 2 splake.

Good start Curt
With that lake being only 13 feet max, do you ever get any bigger size fish, like holdovers from a couple years ago or older? I generally assume there isn’t much chance of catching size on a lake like that unless it has very specific characteristics, like spring fed, abnormally cold water, for the stockers to have a decent life span.

that doesn't get any better, father and son out for boxing day fishing and getting fish. brings back some really good memories of me going out hunting every boxing day, thanks for the great memories.

Curious what your experience is.
This lake has a river at the far end so brookies come and go into have caught specks up to 4 lbs in this lake but have never seen any big splake.
