Chasing bows in 6ft water. Got invaded by lakers. Got a jumpstart on the laker season. Landed six. I caught two less than 12” under the ice just dinking around with my minnow. Kept my two, my buddy got one and kept it. All stockers. I lost a tank rainbow bent my rod right in half, fully loaded!! My reel jammed up and I tossed the rod and went to hand bomb it and then the hook popped out… oops. Shortly thereafter my buddy’s rod flops over and the drag just screams and screams and the rod shaking violently finally made its way into the hole right before my friend got there to grab it…. Rod gone… second time that’s happened to him on a rainbow lake. Couple perch, lots of minnows stolen. 5-6” black ice, even over 120fow. Consistent the entire lake. Great day!
