First time on ice this winter…

Got out on ice for the first of the season yesterday, but not fishing! Took my girls out skating on our family Xmas visit up north. Was a great day on the pond and then got even better when we had a visitor a few mins after we got in the house, thought I’d share a couple of pics…

He walked along our rink then knelt down for a drink in a hole we punched. Was a really cool thing to see.

We checked him out with the binoculars to identify, it was a bull and a nice one at that. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and is enjoying the holidays!

that is really nice to see. shows you they can smell water really well as it must not have been that long since you opened the hole.

Ya it wasn’t long at all, as we were skating my dad was messing around chopping the hole with a shovel. I never gave it much thought but I guess they’re on high alert for water sources in winter. I’m glad you all enjoyed the pics, hopefully towards the end of the month I’ll have some fish pics to share. Pretty sure we’re going on the hunt for some ling in a few weeks.
