I mooved my shack to a new spot after little success for a week or so. My dad and I managed 2 pike and a suprise walleye. So the walleye is a first after 2 seasons fishing this lake.
We heard the bells and went out to find a slack rod. My dad grabs it and reals slowly to find little to no fight just deal weight to the hole. We land a 27 inch walleye with a 14 inch around belly. This fish was dragging around a hook down deep to a heavy weight hanging out its mouth from line . The whole rig was about 6 ft long. Its too bad it was tired out already.

Nice work and bonus walleye. Those would have been some solid entries in the derby. Too bad you didn't get to feel the fight of the walleye but I imagine the pike made up for it. Some good eats you got there.

I didn't really realize their was a derby going on but ohh well I never do as well with derbies the pressure makes me fish differently. I hope everyone had fun and some chunky fish were caught.
We had one good size crappie last week and nothing since. The guys who are targeting them are keeping quiet to their success. They always fish the same area so the stars must align for them but we have sporadic success at best. I think my hole is more of a transitional draw from a deep to shallow area. Its a great ambush spot for predators maybe thats why my crappie success is small.

That spot you fish will always having bigger crappie but not as many in large numbers. If you don't mind fishing into the dark, there will be more. Sounds very similar to my crappie spots, where the big crappie always show up late. LOL.

Some nice fish you got. Hoping the ice around here gets a bit better over the next few days so I can start thinking about getting out too.

People have been fishing the lakes in my area for about 2 weeks. The melt did good things for most in my area they held now we have more ice. My hardside is out on about 8 inches.
