Hi all. I am new to the forum so this may have been asked in the past. I just completed a 8x12 hut and wondered if there are people who you can pay to move your hut onto the lake once the ice is safe? I was thinking moving out to Cooks Bay at the beginning and focus on perch and then to the big lake as the ice builds. The hut is built on 2x10 double skis with teflon on the bottom. The shell is 3" insulated panels with 2 1/2 inch insulated panel roof. Based on the shell and base, the estimated weight is about 13-1500 lbs. Thinking my sled, 2005 Yamaha RX Warrior with studded track will pull it on bare ice but not confident when there is 6" of snow. Is this service available? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I can help push!
As long as I can fish in it at the end.
I haven't been on the lake in a vehicle for about ten years

In the past I’ve done several trips back and forth to pack a trail with the sled, then pulled shack out. Even the day before if you want it to set up good and hard. Your sled will have no problem if you have a trail packed and scoped out ahead of time - not so much if you unexpectedly hit a slush patch while pulling through a foot of fresh snow

Some operators may be willing to haul your hut out for a price. However, you will need to maintain it as conditions change. I've had my hut freeze into the ice after a thaw and spent hours trying to free it up. Not fun. You could try Taj In Port Bolster as he offers these kind of services, but you might want to call around to operators in the area you perfer to fish. I wish you luck

Block your hut up with pieces of styrofoam under the wood blocks, makes an barrier that won't melt into the ice.
