Son and i have been running and gunning on Nip the last 2 days. Going out again tomorrow and will post a full report after that - but lots of fish. One fish though deserves his own thread. 35.5 inch Ling taken Thursday mid-afternoon at the Manitous:

Right on seems like a good recipe for them. We’re going to be targeting them in a couple of weeks on a different lake. I’d say yours will be tough to beat!

Well you are on a roll my friend. Monster pike last year, hanging on your wall. Now a beast of a Ling. What's next? Maybe a huge walleye or crappie. Then I'd be very jealous. I hope you have a photo holding that Ling.

My next target is a 15+ inch jumbo perch. Perch that size will mounted and go on my wall of fame. I know they exist in Nip.

Already have a monster walleye on the wall from Nip that i caught 4 or 5 years ago. Caught a bunch of nice 20 to 22 inch guys the last few days plus some slot keepers.

You never disappoint. That’s a dandy ling. How was the fight ?
I’m sure I’m not the only one looking forward to the rest of your adventure.
Cheers…..

Fight was insane. Good thing they don't have teeth to bite off the leader. They typically inhale the bait and are solidly hooked. Large ling i have lost in the past have been typically due to hook failure - i.e. hook bent straight or hook actually snapping. Have also lost them to fish going on run and actually taking all the line off my reel.

Kenster what’s your preferred size of hole to drill?

I use an 8 inch hole but actually lost a second similar size on Friday. Lost him in the hole. Tried to grab him but those buggers are just too slippery.
