Hello Fishermen,
I have an ice auger which I have included the picture. I have two of the same auger and one works perfectly fine and this green I noticed for the first time is skipping or jumping when I'm using it. It's taking little bit of the ice but it's jumping so much it's almost impossible to drill through. You really need to press it down hard with the whole weight to drill the ice. Even then, it still jumping.
Has anybody else had this experience? What's the answer? The auger was fine before, I don't know why it's doing this now. Thanks in advance.

I would lay the 2 down side-by-side and look very closely at the blades, comparing the bad one to the good one. Something must be off with the blade edges.

Thanks for the replies. I have put the two side by side and they look the same to me. I have also taken both augers to a nearby lake and drilled this morning. One is smooth as butter and the other one is dancing. Can't figure it out. The blade position and sharpness of the two seems same to me. Only difference I can tell is the centre-point blade in relation to the blades is turned little more than the other but I can't imagine that's what's causing the problem.

Assuming you're using same drill for both that rules out the usual suspects - I always have skipping or stalling when I forget and have the drill in any speed other than low/#1.
I have an auger with the same issue, swede bore style, and to the best of my knowledge it was diagnosed as a blade angle issue caused by forcing or banging the auger when the blades were dull. Apparently it takes very little deformation to affect the cut.

Blades are shot for sure.
Dull or not if they have been banged down the angle changes and it won’t cut. Get new blades. Don’t let anyone hang it down for any reason. After use spray with WD 40 as it displaces water and dries 100% keeping that out dye razor sharp. I had blades on an auger that cut hundreds of holes per year, after 7 plus year I sold the auger and it was still razor sharp.

could be the blades need sharpening. I have seen this when someone hits the ice to hard with the auger changing the angle a little bit. this is why I'm now very careful with my auger and who I will let operate it. It doesn't take much, may not even be able to see the difference. If you can check the angles that be my suggestion. put in a shim might be your cure.

The holes on the left look slightly deeper than the holes on the right blade. That could just be an illusion but maybe try tightening your screws and bolts down if you haven't already
