This is correct, narrow bevel edge on the top side. If the bottom side wasn't machined the way it is, it wouldn't cut and would be rubbing. As Limacharley said, flat side down even though it doesn't look flat.

Hello Everyone,
I'm sorry for the late reply. I do appreciate everyone's willingness to help and share their wisdom.
1) the blades were in the right position. And I can't figure out why it was skipping and jumping.
2) I replaced the old blades with new blades (by a different make for that that matter) and it's working just fine. I took it out for a test run this afternoon and cut through like butter.
I hope some of you can sleep better tonight knowing this puzzle is half fixed. The question still remains for me why old blades were skipping because it looks just fine to me.
Once again, sorry for the late reply. I did have some important matters to attend to that prevented me from replying earlier.
