thks fr the clarification crappeeeman, it had the right circle for a lamprey but the mark didn't look right. So it was just a quick guess.
I am not a fishologist, LOL. There are quite a few different infections or parasites that can target fish. I just take each fish one at a time and inspect it best I can. A good way to inspect a fillet is to hold it up to a light. If there is a small black or white spot in the fillet, it is easier to see. This topic always freaks me out. Any food we eat can have bacteria or a parasite. And all animals can get infections. Store bought food or catching or hunting your own food, always good to know what you may see from time to time.

Doesn’t look like a lamprey to me. I wouldn’t eat it despite past assurances about cooking making rest of fish safe. Even if Dr F_____ said it was safe and tasty I would pass.
Not familiar with Dr. F______. Is that person a Marine Biologist or an Ichthyologist? Do they work at the Freshwater Institute in Winnipeg? What papers have they published? I would be very interested in finding out who Dr. F______ is, so I can read their work.
