Booked those dates last week and arrived on the 14th and fished from noon till 5 or so..
On the 15th I was joined by 2 friends and we fished from 7 am till 1 pm and took the drive home
ice.......up to 10 inches including the white crap ice.....4-6 inches of blue depending on where you were....The winds from Monday creating some pressure cracks running north south and even though they are not high, they are basically invisible, so just pay attention to that...early ice conditions can change rapidly
quite a few argos running all over the place and s decent amount of snow on the ice for sleds if the ice is run able right now
On to the fishing........Bite was a bit sketchy on day one till 2 pm when it got overcast and the screen lit up.....with minnows you went nuts trying to keep the dinks off, so I just pulled that up and used 1 rod with the biggest slab grabber I had and got around 60 perch till 5 pm.
Still some dinks but quite a few 9-12.5 inchers the big ones are there but ya had to weed through the small ones........wound up keeping my target 0f 25
day 2 .....7 am till 1 pm.....after getting set up, it started with dinks again........tried perch talkers, minnows etc. and got the odd keeper, but switched back to the 1 rod slab grabber program and did quite well from 8.30 am till 11 am with quality fish. my friends did the same
the bite even on the slab grabber was either a solid hit or just a tiny bump so ul rod choice was a factor regarding bite detection
kept another 25 solid fish and was more than happy with that.......overall we had a great time again and a big thank you to Taj's son who went out of his way to find my cell phone which I stupidly lost somehow.......It was frozen when I got it back so only got a very few pics
I stopped counting after 150 perch lol
Thinking of going back next Friday
on a final note. man I love those huts with the vehicle seats as they are so comfortable
