Fished with Chalkley's sandy bay cottages January 6-9 and I have to say it was a trip for the ages. 5 of us and we caught over 200 walleye in 2.5 days we caught our limit in keepers and were having to throw them back because our limit was reached even after two fish dinners. About 10 perch caught and no pike. We had several over the slot and my personal best by far this 29 inch beast released in good health. Thanks again Jeff for the cottage and Keith and Mike for the huts and transportation. And of course my fishing buddies you guys make the trip fun regardless of the fishing. Hope everyone gets to experience tight lines like this some day. Good luck gents.

Amazing, epic adventure and the number and clearly the size too! I really should get myself up there to give Nip a try esp. since I now live less than 1.5 hrs from North Bay.

Great fish for sure! And the quantity was amazing! Thank you for sharing!
What depth were you fishing in and what bait/offer did you guys catch most of your fish at?
3 of us are heading up to Anglers Haven this week ! Looking forward to getting on the ice !
We were fishing in 29 fow according to fish finder. Most fish were caught on set lines (bite was very light at times with them just holding it for 10-20 seconds then letting it go, if you try to set the hook too early you miss) but pink seemed to be the most popular colour for jig heads, raps or other lures with white a close second. Believe it or not but a pink vibrato tipped with a minnow head or tail on one end was the most productive lure. Ironically that is what ultimately caught this lunker after it initially hit my buddy's set line first (he got a couple pulls on it) but got off then smashed my vibrato. (thanks for the assist Wag) Hope this helps, good luck SteveG

thanks for the report Steve. Glad you had a good time. More fish would have been nice but at least you had the keepers. Very odd the bites went that late into the night usually it goes dead. once again the good old dead stick out fishes the massive amounts of expensive lures in the tackle bag. I am up again with Chilly Willy Feb.3, will post a report after.

Just got back from Chalkleys, had a great weekend, a couple jumbo perch and 6 nice keeper walleye with a number of non keepers. Friday night fish fry, damn, forgot the fish crisp but used smashed up Doritos and dill pickle chips to make the coating. Worked out just fine. Temps on Sat were around zero mark and then it began to plummet, got up this morning, brrrrr, -28C. All in all, great cottages and huts, would definitely recommend them. On the sad side, one of our guys was trying to make a video of a wally coming out of the hole, kerplunk, 3 week old iPhone is now on the bottom of the lake.
