Very cool. I was wondering how they were not getting their props all dinged up ....then they said jet engines, which made sense. Maybe they need to make some kayaks with that material as well )

Most kayaks are made of the same material - PE. Probably just not the same QA/QC during construction and much thinner gauge (those sheets looked 5/8 or 3/4 inch thick) and for cheaper kayaks LDPE instead of HDPE. Their boats likely have better UV stabilizers added as well.

Most kayaks are rotomolded PE - cheaper ones are LDPE and heavier more expensive are HDPE as opposed to this boat which is welded HDPE. I know that's what my Hobie is. Rotomolded HDPE

My guess is that the wall thickness on these boats is too much for rotomolding.

Royalex used to make a rotomolded HDPE canoe - remember watching one of their testing videos where they take it and throw it off the roof of a 10 storey building into a paved parking lot. Than they collected it, put in the water and paddled away just fine.

I don't think my kayak is made of the same material (a softer PE I think as it can get scratches relatively easily when moved over rocks). Those things they dropped on that boat didn't even look like they left a scratch.

Pretty cool! I wonder what these boats would be like (with the jet engines) for duck hunting in the marshes/shallow areas. I don't know much about jet engines, but I don't think they would like sucking up muck/silt?
