Greetings everyone. With busy life and poor ice seasons in the past. I have not gotten out much over the years. With my survival suit smelling like rotten cheese tucked away in a box. I made the effort of get it cleaned and “dry enough” to finally get on the ice. Instead of listing what part of my body is hurting. Easier to list what part is not. Only my ears do not hurt.

We walked a good 2+ km into CB. Ice was a solid 5 to 6 inches.

Action none stop from the first drop of the line to the last. Once the 5 lbs propane tank ran out we packed up.

We were catching Tom Brady’s passes throughout the day. Constant footballs coming through the holes!

Our walk back in was a good 60 to 70 lbs heavier.

Some people on machines and there are a few pressure cracks coming from Gilford across to shore acres and heading east all the way to Keswick.

Stay safe and enjoy it while you can. Seems seasons like this do not come as often anymore.

There is a parking lot on 89 that is free for residents of innisfil. If not it will cost you about $40 for the day. There is also street parking but make sure you follow the signs. Extra walking is a must to get onto the lake.

For perch an electrical filet knife is great. The hardest part is pulling the perch out of the bucket and placing it on the cutting board without getting poked. The knife can filet, skin, and trim out the rib cage under 15 seconds a fish.

Grew up on a farm when everything my father grew was hand harvested. Let’s just say my brain is already seeing the second side before the knife hits the first side. Lol

Do you guys remove the pin bones as well with the electric? With two knives, I can usually get one done in about 40-45sec....one knife (a short utility style knife) cuts the fillets off without rib bones and then score the pin bones and then the second one (the 4" Rapala fillet knife with wooden handle) is used for skinning (and the pin bones come off then as well). But with lots of fish, I will cut out the fillets of a bunch of fish (10-15) and then do the skinning all at once. And then do another batch. This speeds things up and I can clean up a bit in between batches, wash and bag as well...just for a change of pace of doing the same thing over and over again and stretch the legs, etc. With someone who can skin and do the washing and bagging, etc., it becomes "industrial"

Out today with an operator I have not fished with before. He told me they been seeing good schools of smelts. Sure enough I caught one. Also 1/1 on wf. Marking tons but not active.

Going to carry a little bit of yarn next time in my tackle box.
Ended up 2/3 on wf and 4/100+ on smelts. They stayed under me for 5.5 hours. I would be able to bring them up 10 feet before they come undone.

How was the ice or how much depth did you end up getting out to?

Guessing something like white shoal is nowhere near safe yet?
