Hey everyone. The wife and I are heading up to Callander Bay for a weekend of fishing and are wondering if an auger extension is necessary? We have an 8 inch manual and drilled through 15 inches of ice on Simcoe yesterday. Nipissing must have way more. The difference between punching a 6 inch hole vs 8 inch is crazy once the ice thickens.

How has the bite been recently? Haven’t seen many reports from Callander. Last year we went up the last weekend of good ice and got a couple walleye in the slot.

If anyone is thinking of hitting the BOQ this year the ice is fantastic at Point Anne. We had at least 12 inches 2 weeks ago and caught some beauty walleye. Outfished the wife for the first time ever. Fully expecting her to lay the smack down on me this weekend! Appreciate the help! Good luck out there.

use to use 8in manual back in the day.
thinking about 24in of ice but can measure today.
Calander Bay can be thicker though.
Think yr still ok but will take some elbow grease.

Pack the extension. Suppose to be a bunch of snow mid week.

My woods gas auger is getting close to maxed out on the outside of Callander bay on the main lake.

Thank you for the information. Ordered an auger extension extension and hopefully it will show up by Friday. I hope it fits the auger too. Rapala only had 1 on their website so assuming it’s universal.

Can’t lie though, the thought of manually drilling through 25-30 inches of ice sucks. Debating whether to bring the 6 inch auger as well. Should have just ordered a new m18 fuel drill for “work”
