I haven't been out on Nip recently but I do have a 2-3 day trip planned this weekend if I feel like dealing with that cold snap.

I changed it up last weekend and hit a back lake for splake, 3 smaller ones but major slush problems and a very slow drive just to get there with the snow and horrible roads.

On Nip I haven't had any issues with slush yet and I go for a ride a couple times a week.

Friday is looking like a good day to be out on Nip.
Some Febuary hit or miss lulls coming as January comes to an end.
So far descent enough year ,perch numbers seem lower but eyes seem
a tad higher,at least so far for me.

Was up couple weeks ago and had excellent fishing
Never do it again in February as always bad luck

Went out with Greening Bay in an 8-man last weekend. Pretty slow, 12 keeper perch, 3 eyes - 2 under and one over (which I forgot to photo for my gamefish entry, of course!)

Most of the huts around us were slow. Best one had 27 eyes over the weekend.

Mind you, our hut didn't realize just how damn subtle the bite is up there, so there's a good chance we missed some fish jigging away with big lures when a simple minnow presentation may have got some of the marks we had to commit vs looking and moving on.

complete opposite for me.
only one fish on deadstick and about 20 on the spoon.
Last time out was the same,2 on deadstick and prob. a dozen on the spoon.
It does go both ways though esp if the bite is light but they were smashing the spoon.

Seems really slow bite lately. There are some slush spots occasionally but not in most places. Good deal of snow hit and some nice drifting. My holes were 20” with 17” being black ice.

I think it slowed down! Bite wasn’t awesome. Says poor day according to a website I checked that deals with solar cycles etc .. today is suppose to be poor too.

going out today, bite was slower on Monday but had a small run at 4 and landed
a chunky 53cm.Always fun to catch a bigger girl.
So far getting a keeper but expect today to be slow and the bite late.
Only a hand full of perch in late afternoon.
Objects may appear larger then they seem

I got out fished big time Saturday by my nephew, same tent holes only a few feet apart but he had the magic touch.

He ended the afternoon with 11 fish, 5 Walters around this size. (He kept reminding us what the score was).

All I could get was those pesky Perch but it was nice to explore a new area and the weather was perfect.
