I know where they are. I went out last Saturday and again this Saturday. I honestly thought my new sonar was pooched or I was not adjusting it properly. This Saturday I decided to borrow an underwater camera ( I don’t really like using them but I had to see what was going on). The “ interference” I could see on my sonar from about the 10 to 25 ft mark in the column was schools of smelts. Hundreds of them by the looks of it. They were just hovering under my setup. Once I lowered the camera they scattered and my sonar cleared up. It was a great thing to see. Hopefully they are back for good. Fried smelts are a great snack.
