The only Ling I have ever caught have been small, like bullheads. Never cracked 2lbs.

Are 30" Ling possible in Shield Lakes?

I have seen large ones caught on Simcoe and Nipissing.

I vote yes. If someone can successfully lay one flat and measure the dang thing, they deserve to be in derby.

30” gamefish category is perfect top tier in my opinion. Pike are surely the best way to crack the 30”. I try for them end of march before season closes here.
