Hi Everyone,

I'm just curious. I have had a horrible perch season so far. This is not a complaint in that I just like to get out. I like the exercise and all the other benefits of fishing. I'm just saying the fact.

How's your ice fishing season going so far? better or worse than years past?
If better than previous years, I would love to know at what depth you usually fish. Thanks.

Joe

I've had reasonable luck this year on the west side. I've had my best luck between 20 and 23 feet of water, I've drilled quite a few holes looking for debris or whatever else to fish over. Today I cycled through what felt like my entire jig box before I landed on a black head/yellow tail combo that worked well.

Attached image was my best today.

Like any season there's good days and bad days, overall all it's about average.
On slow bite days I'm getting more now since I got the cam. On good days
it's the same as previous years. I haven't gotten as many large ones (14inch)
this year though but did get plenty of jumbo (12inch) perch on simcoe.

I'll see how lake nipissing is in a week. Going to be hard to beat last years though.
Group of four had over 100 walleye in three days.

February perching will test your patience.

Been chasing whities past two weekends.
