Hi All,
I'm going to be up in Sturgeon Falls this weekend and thought I'd hit Nip for some walleye, perch and anything else I can find.

Is there anything I should be aware of heading out from Sturgeon Falls area?

(I think I can access the lake from Nipissing St. I haven't fished up that way before, so figured I'd bounce around looking for the normal humps/structure etc.

I'm traveling on my sled - so I'm not too worried about slush, hopefully.
Thanks for any heads ups or tips!
Paul

fortunately for you that its this weekend and things will be firmed up,i was out on Monday
and my sled was completely slushed. I spent some time trying to unpack the track as it was one
solid block of slush.Didn't get it all out but freed most of it and hoping next time i use it won't be a frozen mess.Just a fyi in case you hit a slush bog.

Nip is Big and Beautiful but she can turn on you in a heartbeat. She can blind you, bog you and turn you around in circles. Also don't assume the pressure crack you crossed in the morning will be safe in the evening.. Bring yourself a GPS and USE IT!

All good advice Bobby, i've been lost out there twice coming back from the islands
Sense of direction seems to opposite.Coming in to the south shore everything looks the same. The warm weather sure heaves up those cracks that were flat and now there not. The snow is the worse as visabilty disappears.

Thanks for the heads up!
I always bring the GPS and a compass, just in case. When it comes to pressure cracks, I always try to have at least one alternate route available - you never know.

I was out this past weekend. Travel was good - I hit a little bit of slush right at shore, but the long track lifted right up when I gave her a little gas.

The wind on Saturday was relentless! LOL I managed to find lots of perch and kept almost a dozen eaters. I marked a couple of bigger fish that wouldn't bite. I'm guessing walleye or pike.

Sunday looked absolutely gorgeous and frosty! Unfortunately, I had to work and then head back south.

Considering it was my first time up there, I'm happy with the perch. IF it wasn't so windy on Saturday, I would've moved around a little more - but once I got the hut up and heat on, I wasn't too motivated to move again! Haha!

You're right - it's a huge lake and full of surprises (some good, some not so good). If I was closer, I'd spend more time exploring and finding spots.
