For me the first sign is seeing my first grackle of the year, which I saw this morning out for a walk. Will still get some crappy weather I'm sure, but the worst is behind me now. 13C today and snow for tomorrow. Should be uncovering boat in the next week 2 at the most.

You can probably guess what mine is. Until I see the return of woodcock than its not spring for me yet. Good to hear you've seen a grackle as usually woodcock are not far behind.

We usually have Robins & Grackles back in early March here at Horseshoe Valley.

They will have a tough time finding food when they get here, as we have 2 to 3 feet of snow on the ground and it will take quite a while to go away.

My sure sign of spring is seeing my first red winged blank bird of the season.
