Got out on Sunday for some perch on the Keswick side. I was still setting up when a gentleman who was close by came to ask if I had something to chip a hole open, so I gave him my spud bar. His son hooked into a big burbot but they couldn't get thru a 6" hole. His son came back with the spud bar half an hour later and asked if I had a tape measure. When he came back with the tape measure he said it was 34". I had to go see it for myself. Oh boy was it thick. Congratulations to Brian and his son for bringing in that monster on perch tackle. That is the first time I seen one in Cooks Bay. I didn't have too much luck with the perch on the day. Never saw anything over 10". The bite was only good for about an hour around lunch. There didn't seem to be much movement of fish. I had to jig for about 10 minutes until a few fish started coming around and hung out. When I walked back in I drilled about 6 holes along the way and only got a single fish to come around, that guy took another five minutes to bite. Took a few home for some fish tacos. The perch were spitting up 1" gobies. Hopefully the ice holds up for another trip but we will see what happens after this weekend. Good luck out there maybe you can get a monster burbot too.
