For you smokers, note the above.

Hello my friend, thanks for the heads up. Did you break out the gold card to get one? I was looking at them, decided not this time, all of them were over $100.00. Very sad, I believe last year they were 3.99/lb.

Hi Robert

They were $4.99 last year.

I was in Orillia last Friday and checked Zehrs. They were all big and very fatty, so I didn't buy one. I will be in Barrie tomorrow and will check Zehrs there to see how they are.

I was in Barrie today and checked at Zehrs--same as Orillia, big and lots of fat, so no purchase made.

2 years ago I bought one at zehrs at $3.99lb and it didn't look too fatty when I bought it.
Different story once I opened it up. By the time I had finished trimming fat, I had trimmed off 5lbs--$20.00 of waste is too much in my book.

Ralph my sister lives in New Mexico, she is paying 16.50 for a dozen eggs. Prices are crazy everywhere. As tasty as the brisket is, it has a lot of waste, takes a lot of time to smoke it properly and goes up a buck a pound per year. It's now off my affordable list.

Robert--look at the price of beef in general. It is all much more expensive than it used to be.
In my estimation it is still acheap cut if you can find a good one.

Last Fall, when Zehrs had brisket at $4.99, I was in the store the next week after the sale was over and they had cut the "flat" off the whole brisket and were selling them at $5.99lb

I found 3 really good ones around 5lbs each with very little fat.

I bought them, vacuum sealed and froze them. Then I found a very good recipe to do them in the oven instead of in the smoker. I still have 1 in the freezer.

I will be keeping my eye open next week to see if any more like that.
