Been Hot for lakers this March. Last three trips this week I managed many consistently sized lakers in the 22-25” range. Great eating fish from this lake, that’s the perfect size in my opinion. Other lakes in the area, I wouldn’t eat any over 17-18” the meat is generally pale. They eat the same things but in this case I think it’s just that they grow incredibly fast in this lake, and a lot slower in other lakes nearby.

Yesterday saw 10-14” ice. Decent shores. Mostly black ice but some slush holes still where multiple layers exist.

If the forecast holds and lake levels don’t suddenly rise, I hope for 7 more days ice fishing at least. Good cold nights and low highs

Awesome fish and pictures. What a great way to get a sunburn!

I think those 22” lakers are quickly becoming one of my favourite trout to eat.
