...and note, I have never posted any fish photos with the background (blacked out or otherwise), except one very good looking trout in great lighting that day (but those trees are not going to help people much). People usually get the pre-cleaning dead-fish-on-cardboard-at-home photos usually and if I have a camera with me, fish on ice of fish in water.

Well you could tell me exactly where you fish and I would never go there.......Lake trout and Whitefish are off the menu at the family home up in Cameron. I prefer the shallows of Balsam and Sturgeon. But just in case I ever change my mind, better not tell me. LOL.

So in 5 hours I am taking off for Ireland for 4 weeks......going to visit my daughter again like I did last year. I fished last year but inland Ireland does not seem conducive to catching. However I have seen some larger water with some fishing guides and marinas present, so I hope to make the 2 hour trek and try my luck there. If I do well I will post the lake and put up some pics. I will expect to see some of you there on the next day.....

Aren’t we on a fishing forum for a reason? I grew up on Balsam, so I know that lake the best. I have no problem giving anyone tips to fish it. Good luck to you.
I know CM does too, we’ve both mentioned where good spots are to try on the lake before, but I don’t fish the exact same spots he does. It’s a big lake.

Yup, almost always post what lake I was fishing on my night adventures. Even took a few board members, or told them guaranteed spots to catch fish. Have not had any complaints yet. Balsam and Sturgeon cover a few hundred square miles. I try and provide a good tip to help some people catch fish. My favourite spots are only know to a few, or just myself. It's difficult in some areas because of rude people moving in from social media posts. Hard to say what is the right or smart thing to do. Maybe I do say a bit too much on my posts in the last 5 years. We will see how this season takes off with posting. One thing is for sure, this year will be like the previous years. Releasing hundreds more fish, and keeping less fish to help out Mother Nature best I can. Things were easier, life was simpler back then.

Yep good to keep things to yourself, seems like you’ve got some good spots! Nothing wrong with leaving certain details out. Having said that there’s nothing wrong with trading a little info with your buds, after they take an oath of course

I remember many many many moons ago, I found a nice little lake which held massive largemouth bass….. and for a few summers, I truly enjoyed catching and releasing these hogs!
Then, I decided to share my fishing enjoyment with a close buddy of mine… and the only thing I left out that day was to inform him to keep this “spot” a secret.
A few weeks later AND subsequent years to follow, I stopped fishing this lake because you would literally fish elbow to elbow from your boat!
Never again did I ever invite this “close buddy” to fish with me and I learned from my first and only mistake to never disclose or take anyone to my honey holes!
This was 40 years ago!
