Probably the last day of the season for me on the ice today near Haliburton. Plenty of ice out there but the shore access will be gone/really sketchy after this rain coming on the weekend. Ice was 12” at my hole. I only drilled one spot. Walking was great. Today was also probably my best personal laker day ice fishing solo that I’ve ever had. I launched around 11:45AM, fished Noon until around 1:30pm. I hooked 16 big fish, Landed 9 of them, plus some whitefish scales. All fish landed were Lake Trout measuring; 22”, 22”, 23”, 23”,24”,25”,26”,26”,and 27”. Using a perfect bait 4” tube white fade to chartreuse on a 3/4oz meegz with a 3” stinger hook and tipped with a minnow head. I kept my limit of 2 and the rest released. Fish were extremely aggressive and smashing the bait. I’d say 95% of fish marked hit my bait. 65fow. Non stop Lake trout train! Nonstop bait 30ft thick on bottom, would suddenly scatter every 3-5 min as predators were just a rolling through: That was a day for the books.
