My son headed north again this morning for his last try at ice fishing. He no sooner got setup he had four on and lost he first three, finally landed the fourth a whitefish. The bite slowed down but he had lots of marks and got a couple lakers.

That is a thick whitefish for sure, nice outing. I’m awfully tempted to go again…. Not near as much rain yet as expected here… yet. Decent layer of ice but not horrible yet.

He had a number of hookups that he couldn’t land with several getting close to the hole before they unbuttoned. He also hooked a couple smelt after they moved in

He's doing pretty good out there. Yes, I have been noticing the smelt are stacking up. A bit of a P-I-T-A as they can make it look like there's other fish down there. Pretty nice day out today except for the need to clear away a bunch of ice that took up all the fishing time
