I commented last evening about our "storm experience" and said I would, post pictures later.

Before I post the pics., I had a very interesting and thoughtful PM from a fellow member offering to get members together and to come and help with the cleanup. An example of the great members we have on this Forum. I explained, not necessary as this is an insurance issue and they will pay my landscape contractor for the cleanup. The insurance coverage also pays for our hotel stay in Barrie, our meals there, spoiled food in thawed out freezers etc. I won't mention the member by name, but I certainly want to say thanks for the gesture.

As I said last night, key thing is that Mr. & Mrs. Sdcaller are OK and the house will get fixed in due course. Now that we have power, we have water from the well and we have heat. While it is a mess outside, things are back to normal inside.

Pic4
In my ravine at the back of the house a lot of the tall maples lost all their upper branches which are now lying at the base of each tree. Not sure if these trees will survive.
This pic will give you an idea of the destruction at the back.

You have a great attitude and outlook on the situation. You are right, it could have been worse. Roofs and houses can be fixed as well as yards can be cleaned up. Your trees should be fine back there, trees are very resilient as long as the main trunk is in tact. If the leaves come out this spring, then all should be well for most of them. Hard to tell from the picture, but they look ok. Maybe more branches coming down if there is a few windy days in the future.

Wow! That's quite the mess SDCaller.
You are just up the road from me - I'm in Minesing. Some folks here just got their power back today (in a couple of areas outside of the village).

I'm glad to hear insurance will be helping out, and like you said - the important thing is you and the boss are ok.

That being said, I know insurance companies don't always move the fastest, so if you need anything in the interim, please feel free to reach out.

Hi Ralph,

Sorry to hear about all the damage on the property and home, and about the lost food in freezer / fridge and no power. I am glad you and the wife are ok and getting through this.
Great attitude..

Take care and keep cheerful..
