Well things are not moving along very fast up here in Windermere as the winds keep making ice cubes ....the majority of the deeper water is still wide open ...some of the shallower bays are capped over with ice but here in Windermere as of Sunday we only had ice out about a hundred ft from shore...I will go down a little later today to see if we have any improvement since then... maybe I'll even snap a few pics ...I'll keep you updated.

Well the news is there is litterally no ice in Windermere ...I was so disappointed I didn't even take a pic ...there is ice from the beach to the first set of docks and that's it ...wide open over to Tobin Island in the west to as far as you can see north and south...there is actually less now than what was there last Sunday...darn winds...I'll keep an eye on it and keep you updated.
I made a trip to Parry Sound today and there were sleds and people out fishing on Horseshoe Lake ...of course I have no idea what is in there?
Please someone cancel all winds for the next week and plummet the temps I want to go fishing!!!!

Suds, your bang on, the winds are murdering the ice.... been a really windy last couple weeks it seems, especially over nights too. Ice has formed and broken up several times now on the big muskoka lakes. Next 5 days of forecast are calling for 15-25km/h winds each day, nothing is gonna form with those winds for another couple days at least. Anyone fished mary lake? is it any good? its capped and building thickness i may be interested in trying that one out if rosseau stays soft for too long. Peter

Suds
Thanks for the update Suds, I knew you would be around sooner or later. Fish or no fish it's a beauty spot and I will definitely be up again his year when we have some ice. I will be sure to visit your hut again and let you teach me how to fish Talk to you later, please let us know when you get rid of that open water. P.S. do you think if we got all the million dollar cottages to turn off their bubblers for a few days she would freeze up

Well I don't think the bubblers help that's for sure especially the ones that are on 24/7. But then again they do keep the water oxygenated...catch 22 I guess.
Although I have never fished Mary Lake I do know that there are always huts out at Port Sydney about 100 yds from shore ....one person told me they catch whities there but he won't eat them as he feels they are to contaminated...I have never looked into that myself as I never really had the urge to fish anywhere else with Rosseau being right here. Simcoe of course being the exception.
I did see fisherman on Long Lake in Utterson on Monday ..again I have no idea what they were fishing for.
