Well I would love to have a nice new fishing rig, looked at all the legends and stuff for a long time, but the payments werent practical. Your guys rigs are awesome. So I compromised:
Heres my oldie but goodie 1968 Chrysler, 75 hp, made in barrie. Boat is a peterborough catalina 17.5 feet. Lots of power, speed and torque. Put a 50 lb trolling motor with remote pedal control on back, 2 new swivel fishing seats on driver side and sleeper seats on passenger side. I can sit in the back, face back and control the troll speed and direction with the pedal. Have real airhorns , humminbird matrix 17 fishhfinder with gps wayfinder and removeable swivel mounting system, and a cannon manual downrigger. Got a sunbrella bimini online from Quebec- couple hundred bucks delivered to save from roasting out there.
This boat runs like a top, I do all the work on it. Had to restore the motor to working condition when I got it. Got a used bottom end from Bev Edwards in Barrie- for which I am grateful. PS: IMHO, K bay has thrown me some of the biggest swells I have ever experienced, seemingly out of nowhere near bbp. Bigger than Lake O.

thanks- no easy access to my bow for fishing means I had to mount elsewhere and the stern made sense. Because of the digital remote pedal control, I can swing the motor full around 360 degrees, backtrolling is easy. steering veers a bit to the left though which can be easily offset by wind , etc

I have the same boat...since new in 95 and I love the boat....fits in the garage....has just enough boat to cater to my species of fishing.....great to tow.....camping with my son...small new lakes....some big water ( total day and weather selection) but really has been well worth the dime spent...
BUT
god dammit...the effing 20hp that came on it might as well be a trolling motor.....I am on the hunt this year to change it to a 40hp tiller.....

If the pic works, this is my Lund 1400 Fury. 20hp Mercury 4stroke. Runs fine when alone, but under powered with extra people on board. Great for trolling. Would recommend 30hp for this model.
I have the same boat with a 20,......totally agree....get a 30 or even better. 40.....

Thanks. Seriously looking for power tilt set up for this next. Pretty heavy to lift up manually at the launch every time, looks like mounting holes at the mount bracket.

Anyone know a link where I can get a feel or learn about wind direction for lake simcoe...
Just wondering what amount of wind in miles will effect the lake to the point where i will be second guessing my self. Also which direction is more severe than the others.

That's a pretty general question. For starters look up top for Marine forecasts under Lake Info. Also, I highly recommend a Marine Radio tuned to the local Coast Guard station, Channel 21 (Int.) There are many other sources of wind forecasts; my personal favourite is Sailflow. Other than that, design and size of your boat along with experience and knowhow of the skipper are just as important. Finally, the amount and direction of wind to be concerned about also depends on where you are on the lake.
The EC Small Craft Wind Warning kicks in at 20 knots. No one I know would want to be fishing in anywhere close to that.
