Mattawa is the place. We fish below La Cave Dam or downriver at "the slide" about Klocks road. Our best luck is below the dam. But the slide is "fish on" in the spring. They can't keep away from the white jig and a fresh minnow. I've heard good things about the fishing above the dam... but haven't had a chance to try it.... maybe this year.
My buddies mother in law is right on the water south of the La Cave dam, there was a small waterfall across from where their dock is (picture below).
If you ever want to try up north of the Temiskaming dam there is a boat launch with parking on the Quebec side in Temiskaming and boat launches of the islands if you want to try the south side of the dam.
Maybe we will bump into each other up there some time, I ll be the guy with the Lake Simcoe Outdoors hat on.

I have this exact boat and engine. I bought mine new in 1995 and really like how easy it tows, fits into smaller lakes, but still has a "little" hull for occasional larger water....
Definately needs more HP than a 20 though....damm Brad at Legend sold me hard on the 20, and I regret it to this day....shoulda got the 40 like I wanted....
