My ladyfriend and I are looking to make a move to Nipissing area and this will help me to find a place to moor my boat. I can hardly wait to see posts about where the fishing is good.

The old site had prettty good info on it.......pffft, gone

BWB..........address......I will be visiting lots.....

I spend some time up there but usally winter ice fishing only.........so kind of limited to an area.

Fishing is not what it used to be, but patiene does pay off.

Plenty of good fishing for bass, pike and WF as well as walleye in open water as well as hardwater.

oh..........tons of perch there now too

I used to fish Nippising all the time during the spring and fall about 12 yrs ago. (I went to school at Nip U). It used to be pretty good. I understand the fishery is starting to rebound a bit?

The netting doesn't help the fishery at all

Don't get me started on the nets. There's a very good chance I would say something I might regret!

Hi Backwoodsmanbob.

I used to fish to Lavigne area. Excellent for pike and some picks. My best area was out near the islands on the south side fairly close to shore. Use a worm harness and you will destroy the walleyes during the opener and into June.
Good luck on your move. Lake nIp is a pike and walleye factory.

Hi Bob:

What part of Lake Nipissing are you hoping to focus on? There are several excellent places to moor a boat.

In North Bay they have an excellent set up on the waterfront with slips etc. which is near the downtown area.

In Calandar Bay there is the Government Dock but I haven't been down that way in years so I don't know what it is like at this point.

On the French River there are a few good spots off of the North Channel Road.

Out of Sturgeon Falls and Verner I believe there are some good spots but I have never used either of these areas.

Lake Nipissing is a large lake with a lot of access points etc. and yes the fishing is good, however, most people would agree the best fishing is probably out around the islands and around Calandar Bay.

There's also some pretty fine waterfowling opportunities in Calendar Bay area - although she can sure blow up pretty good out there too!
