We just got in from two days of fishing the Belleville area again. We had a great time last weekend and wanted to get back out and get that big one back or at least have hubby catch an ice walleye. Fishsniffer also wanted to bring the gf out for some eyes so we made a weekend of it. The drive here was much better than last weekend and made good time. Meet up at the hotel and had lunch before heading out on the ice.

Got to the access just after 2pm and met up with admin since he was in the Kingston area and was able to slip out for a few hours fishing. We headed out to the spot and luckily the walk was so much better than last Saturday. Things have tightened up nice and also lots of bare patches. We all got set up and started fishing. It seemed only one hole was showing any activity on the sonar and it was Jerry's. After a couple hours Jerry had one perch and the rest nothing. The sun was starting to set so we headed into the huts and then I caught my first fish. "WALLEYE" and everyone came running. Too bad it wasn't 20" bigger I didn't get a picture but Jerry did so hopefully he can post it. I caught a small perch soon after and also Jerry caught a few outside on his deadstick rig. Fishsniffer also caught a small perch as well but that was it. At about 6:45 we started heading back.

We decided to head out to a slightly different spot this morning and Fishsniffer was going to meet up after getting some minnows. When he got the minnows, they mentioned another spot to try. We had no fish so headed back in for some lunch. We didn't want to drive to the area Fishsniffer was going since we had been out walking in the cold already so we tried another local spot and they headed off to the other area.

The walk in this new area wasn't too bad so that was a good thing. Lots of huts out there so figured we would be good. Heater broke in the morning so no heater and man was it cold even in the hut. Hole was starting to freeze over inside the hut. We were out from 3pm to 6pm and only hubby caught a small perch and had a couple of nibbles. Nobody around us was catching either.

We were disappointed on this trip but that is how fishing goes. When the bite is off, you can't do much about it. Hopefully Fishsniffer will have a more exciting post with the other area they tried but we have not seen them yet.

Well, that is all the ice fishing we are doing for the next few weekends as we are headed off to Hilton Head, South Carolina. Hopefully the fish will be kind to us down there.

Here is Jerry's setup...

Great report Nicole.. Too bad the walleye did not want to coorperate this weekend. It was great to meet up with the gang on Saturday and try my luck at some Quinte Gold.. Although I marked fish steadily all afternoon, the bite started at dusk and as suspected I landed 6 perch within 30 minutes and that was it. Marked some fish after dark, but they just seemed to look at the minnows and swim away. O well thats fishing... That is a real nice spot thou, and i'm sure when the fish are in it's hot there --- as you know.. I never fished that part of the bay and I will definitely be back. It was nice to be out without all the noise from my usual Simcoe adventures. Walking conditions were definitely much better than last week.
Have a great trip down south..
Cheers,
Jerry

Hey Nicole great report. Did you travel from the tree line I can see in the background or from a different direction? Just curious how long the walk out was and how deep you were.

Hey nsfisher. That treeline in the back was not were we walked out. We were in 14ft off a point and the walk was about 1.5 km. Mostly walking along a shoreline since the only public access is at the start of the point. We tried another spot which was about half the distance but no fish. We are going to pick up a sonar on an end of season sale since that would have helped us out more.

Yes, I did ok, I landed 2 nice lakers. I had the post in the Northern Lakes, but moved it here to Great Lakes, since Fishing the Kingston area is more suited for this forum.

Hey Nicole,

Was a long trek in yesterday with the 401 being jammed up a bit . The gf and I decided to fish Wellers Bays. We had a good time with Nadia catching her first Walleye and over 30 Perch . We kept 15 of them good size eaters for tonight .

As for the Walleye biting not much we can do as we both punched holes all over the bay trying for them . Everyone we spoked to had the same answer no fish or just one.
Another gentlemen close to our room who has been fishing there for 20 years said it may also be the weather that shut them down . He had no fish both days . Monday we stayed and fished Weller's just before the nasty weather . No stop marking fish all day . Lots of Long nose Gar cruising under our hole. Lost count at 6 one time . Lots a fish caught threw out the day .

Ice Conditions are very sketchy . If you don't know the lake / Bays I wouldn't recommend venturing out on your own . Some place 13 inches of ice and others a inch or a skim layer of open water. Speak with the locals before heading out !!!

Everything was perfect this weekend . Area was beautiful, location was great and spending time out on the water with friends .....Priceless !

We defiantly be back again to fish up that way

Nadia now has the itch for ice fishing and a double digit Walleye . loll
