I've recently moved to out to Mississauga and have never fished the Credit for bows or salmon and the rules book confuses the hell out of me in terms of where i can fish and what for.
Some parts of it say i can fish for them below a bridge way up north that i Can't even find, and the dam that I found had signs every where saying that you had to use barbless hooks and so there is no fishing and yet people fishing every where (last fall) i figured good ole simcoe outdoors is the place to turn. if anyone can help me with any of the following questions it would be great.
1. Are there even enough spring rainbows in the credit to make it worth fishing? 2. where can i fish them before opener (assuming they have the same opener as every where else) 3. is it any good to fish for them at the mouth (train trussle and down) ? 4. am i better off going to the humber or grand rivers?
that should be enough to get me started, thanks guys

I have lived in PC for years and can tell you that Erindale is probably your best bet but it does not hold fish like it used to. The river has changed a lot over the last few years and some of the honey holes don't hold fish like they used to. Persistence is the key and beating the crowds to the good spots. You can fish from the QEW bridge south to the lake year round. The river is sanctuary north of the QEW to Dundas where Erindale park starts. Erindale park goes from Dundas to Burnhamthorpe, lots of holding spots between. I can walk to the river mouth and can tell you I have not seen a lot of bows caught off the mouth. Mostly it is fished heavy during the fall for salmon and the odd bow gets picked up as well. Casting spoons at the mouth is your best chance at a bow this time of year. Good luck, once you learn Erindale you should have some success.

Thanks Dan I guess I have to. You are correct about the 403 South but the regs always had a sanctuary from Dundas to the QEW bridge as this is prime spawning ground Are you sure there is nothing noted under exceptions.

Hey Dan, I checked the regs and there are a bunch of exceptions for the Credit but I no longer see anything noting the sanctuary from Dundas south. It's been a while but now I may have to explore some new territory. Thanks
Sorry for any mis-information I provided Putaforkinya

Hey Dan, thanks but no apology necessary. I did not take you comment to be rude rather I welcome the correction as I do not want to provide mis-information to the members. Thanks again. I will assuredly check the regs. Next time before providing this type of info.

cool. the credit does have very complicated regs. i just started fishing there this year, top to bottom, so its taken me a while. heres the basic breakdown for trout species as i see it credit
upstream from the 407 is regular trout season. above baseline is single barbless hooks no organic bait no kill.
